Phone numbers were the foundation upon which the Team Group originally started back in August 1999. The then grand idea was to launch ‘word’ numbers in the UK (being telephone numbers that spelled words – such as 0845 FLOWERS). Unlike the United States and other countries where phone numbers are regarded as a valuable national resource and held in one central repository, here in the UK, Ofcom (and its predecessor Oftel) dispensed large blocks of phone numbers (10,000 at a time) to anybody who wanted to set up their own telecoms company and who had basic capital plus their own switching equipment. Accordingly, hundreds of companies gained blocks of numbers – an action that caused a great deal of industry fragmentation. In this climate, getting word numbers into full scale usage became very difficult – and so Team Telecom diversified into phone numbers generally, followed by various other services over the years starting first with fax broadcasting and then travel incentives. This formed part of our strategy of not having ‘all our eggs in one basket’. All too often have we seen businesses built on a single product, or just one or two clients, go under when the market moves against the product or the client switches allegiance.
Here at Team we hold a wide range of non geographic numbers (0844, 0845, 0870, 0871), both highly memorable and standard. Monthly lease charges range from £6.50 way up to £500 or more. We offer our consultants up to 18% commission on any phone number placements and this commission will continue to be paid for as long as you continue to remain an active consultant.
